Our Gram-Berger

Carter received a very special package in the mail the last week. He LOVES getting packages in the mail, but don't we all? He always knows it is from one of his grandma's.

Gram-Berger made him a very cute quilt that matches his bedding in his room. Fire trucks, dalmation dogs, fire hydrants.....you get the picture.

I thought I was more excited about it then he was but that night when I went to tuck him in he had it covering him in bed. This kid usually doesn't like blankets at night either so this was something very special to him. I quickly went and grabbed it from him because I don't want him to use it. It's too special and something we should hang on the wall.

I am sure by now you all know of my love for quilts, but there is just something more special about the ones that a loved one has made for you. I remember when I graduated from high school my dear great aunt Mary Ellen made me a quilt. It was the last one she ever made because her eyes got too bad. I used the quilt a lot and now it is tearing quite a bit. It makes me sad because now my aunt has passed away and I wish I would have kept it in better condition. So I hope to do the same for my kids with these "special quilts". I think I have learned both my love for quilts and keeping them safe from my mom.

We really appreciate the time that goes into these quilts and want to thank Gram-Berger for making it specially for Carter. I know she has a goal to make one for each of her grandchildren. I think that is a great goal and I know each one of them will treasure them just like Carter. THANK YOU!!!

*(I tried and tried to upload a picture of the quilt but blogger won't let me. I'll have to try later.)

How nice! I wish someone in my family made quilts. I made one a few years ago, but it was so much work, I've never done another one!

I have to ask, where did the name "Gram-Berger" come from???

Oh I should have explained. She just recently remarried a man by the last name of Berger so it was the joke that we could call her gramberger. But honestly it's easy for us to call her that so my kids know which grandma we are talking about.

That is so nice of Blythe and she is such an amazing seamstress! How fun for Carter to recieve in the mail.

I love quilts too. How cute that Carter wanted to sleep with it. You almost want to just let him huh? But it is nice to treasure it as well.
