The Big Apple/New York Day 1 Sept 21st

Around the beginning of July Glen found out he needed to schedule some business with his ad agency in New York City. He scheduled it for September. Fall in New York.....doesn't get much better!  He decided that he wanted me to tag along and I was very happy to accept!

Grandma Berger was SOOO kind in accepting the kid sitting job, we really couldn't have gone without her,  and  couldn't have left the kids in happier spirits than knowing they were spending 5 whole days with Grandma.
Now getting out the door to go on the trip always seems to be the tricky and exhausting part!  I took Maggie grocery shopping with me.  Huge mistake because she slept the whole time and took up all my cart space!

I took this picture from our taxi drive.  New York, New York!!

Our hotel was very close to Grand Central Station, which was awesome because we caught lots of subways out of there to explore the city.  Pretty cool to think of the history that place has!

One of our first touristy things was to stop and see the 9/11 memorial.  It really was so humbling to see all those names engraved on the monuments.

We walked a couple blocks and stopped at Wall Street area.

It was so fun to just be together, no kids controlling what decisions we made and just doing whatever we wanted.  So our first day was spent just exploring, stopping at little places for dinner, acclimating ourselves with the subway, and enjoying all there is to see in the big city!

Our hotel was a block away from Bryant Park so we spent a peaceful evening just enjoying the this little park right in the middle of city life.  It was pretty cool.

Time Square was also just blocks away from our hotel so after we explored the park a bit we walked down to the crazy, out of control part of the city!  So many people and lots and lots of people-watching to see down there!

Once we had enough of Time Square we made our way back to our hotel, first we decided we needed to relax just a bit more in the "quiet" of Bryant Park.

It loo0ks like a very enjoyable trip. We love New York City too. Those kinds of trips with just the two of you are so refreshing for the relationship and give a real break. How nice that grandma could help out.
Love you guys, Dad

I am one handsome man! Have a big forehead and a middle-aged-man belly, but hey, I can live with that.

That was a really fun trip... mostly the part when I wasn't working. Favorites was Central Park, eating Margarita pizza at the Italian street fare, and watching Mariano Rivera retire.
