I have never seen Carter get more excited about anything EVER then he does/did about football. He has been talking about it for a year now. We missed the deadline when he could start at age 8. He made sure to let me know that that would never be happening again! So for the whole year until football season started again he reminded me at least weekly.
He's still loving it. It's been really good for him too. I notice that he's a happier young man when he's been practicing and playing.
It's not enough to practice 5 days a week so he takes it upon himself to teach his sister(s). (this didn't go down so well)
This is an intense sport. We're all learning to control our emotions and not get too into it. He's got a very very very intense coach that seems to be making some parents mad and some kids not want to play. However, Carter has not been too effected by it. He's obviously use to the screaming and yelling from home?!
Glen is his best supporter. They both love it together and he spends many hours practicing with him. There has been some pretty emotional games and Glen's always on the sideline to help get his spirits up.
I have to say that I really am enjoying watching. Who would have thought I would actually understand the sport, but I really am starting to get it.
Carter has been the teams Center. He's really good too. He has had to miss 2 games with different trips that we had planned and they said the team really struggled without him.
He's so much smaller then alot of those other boys on the line that I worry but he's not afraid! He has lots and lots of bruises to show for it.
He's also so fast that he's a great little tackler.
My little Center getting ready to hike the ball.
Some days I get sad that these sporting days are going to go by way too fast with my only boy. I enjoy watching his sporting events. But then I remember one day he'll go on a mission and I know that this mom can only handle her "little boy" leaving her once and I am OK!
This stuff is not for wimps, that's for sure!

Wonderful blog, Kendi, and wonderful pictures. I just got to watch one practice, and I could tell how excited and involved Carter was. Good for him. I'm glad that he and Glen are able to share things like this, and that you're enjoying it so much, as well. (Sons taught me to love football, that's for sure!)
Thanks for the photos. I especially love the one of Glen and Carter walking together. That's a priceless moment well worth saving.
Love you all very much.

Carter looks like a stud out there! Glad he is enjoying it. Great way to get some aggression out for a boy. He is strong, and I personally would be afraid to be set across from him on the line if I was his age. Good Job carter!

It has been fun following Carter's football accomplishments and listening to his dad's detailed stories about football. For sure Carter has learned to be tenacious and enthusiastic about the sport that makes his confidence grow.
lLove to all.
