Life Lessons From Carter....WARNING graphic pictures ahead!

Friday afternoon was a very long day for me. It seemed as if my kids were just hard. I was sure glad it was Friday though and not Monday.

I let Carter go in the backyard to play with Molly. After a couple of minutes I went to check on them and as I stepped out the back door I found these feathers sitting on the step. I thought well that is weird but Carter had said there was a cat back there before he went out so I didn't think much of it. I then looked over to see him sitting at our patio table dissecting a baby bird. I immediately asked him what he was doing and told him to come inside and wash his hands. He refused to come in an do it so I told him he was going to get a time out. I came in the house and he followed behind me. He told me he didn't want to wash his hands and he wanted a new mommy. I then told him that was fine to go sit on the front porch and I would call a new mommy and have her pick him up out front.
He went out front and then a few minutes later came in and had tears in his eyes and said but mommy the bird died. I felt so sad for him. He really was pretty sad about the bird. He went in and washed his hands and came out and told me that the bird had gone to heaven. What a smart kid. I guess we are teaching the kid something.
Later that evening he wanted to show the neighbors the bird. I warned them it was pretty disgusting but they wanted to see anyway. After looking at it the neighbor told me it wasn't that bad, all it was was a wing. I said oh no the head is there too and she said no it's not. I said where is the head. Carter looked at all of us and said the head went to heaven.
We went out to dinner that night and came home to find nothing left of the bird, Carter was pretty happy that the whole bird had gone to heaven. I am pretty sure that the cat next door was pretty happy that Carter had taken the feathers off for him and cut it into pieces for him to eat up nicely.
Those of you without boys or that never had brothers may never understand this kind of behavior....heck I am still catching on.
