The Kitty

The day after Maggie's birthday I was woken up to the loudest crying outside the bedroom window.  It went on for awhile till I finally got up to go see what it could be.  I really wasn't even sure what I would find because the cry almost sounded human like.
When I went out to where I heard the noise coming from there was nothing there.  Knowing that I didn't dream that cry up I looked around a bit.
On the other side of our back yard there is a irrigation ditch that has pretty fast water running down it all spring and summer.  I noticed a feral momma cat trying to get her 2 kittens across the ditch safely.  When she saw me coming she started to panic.
I made the mistake of waking Carter up to come see just what was going on.  Carter is the biggest animal lover, pretty sure we've deprived him up to this point in our lame attempts of just having hamsters, birds, rabbits, and fish as his only pets.

I told Carter we better go back in the house and give the momma cat some time to try to get the kittens across.  Carter only gave her about 1 min and came back in with this little black kitty!
Okay, but it is cute!!  Baby kittens have to be one of the cutest things!

Glen and I decided we better take it to the humane society and see what they had to say about a kitten of this size.  We weren't even sure what to feed it because it was so tiny.
As Glen walked out the door I gave him strict instructions to really give this some thought full well knowing he would come back with the kitten in tow.

Sure enough Glen, Carter, and the kitten all came home.

The name ideas started flowing and the kids decided on Midnight.  (even though it should be Nightmare, as you will soon find out).

About 3 days after finding the kitten he became very sick.  It was the saddest thing.  It was almost like it was dying.  Glen tried to get it to eat out of this syringe before taking it to the vet.

The vet gave him a few shots and some instructions on what could have been going on with Midnight and sent him home.
Midnight was just fine after that and we currently still have the crazy out of control cat.  More on Midnight adventures soon!

When I came home from my mission my mother had replaced me with a cat. I told her "either that cat goes or I go!" She said "write me a letter when you learn how to write!~" It takes a long time to get used to being replaced by a cat. They are cute little devils.
