Bitter Sweet

I've been going back and forth in my mind on my feelings of school starting. I think the kids were ready in their own way and I was tired of entertaining.....TV watching was becoming a all day everyday occurrence last week.
This morning as I dropped them off at school I was kinda sad. It's always hard for me to send them out in the big wide world with all the influences around them. I know they are good kids though and and they will make great choices.

Carter told me as I was taking this picture below that it was a girly pose. He's kinda right, poor kid! He still did it for me, just to make me happy!

Bess has the same teacher Carter had in first grade, Miss Christensen. He was sure to tell her all the ins and outs on how she runs her classroom. All day school, no snacks, and packed lunch may just kill this little girl!

And she's off.....

And he's off to 3rd grade!

And she's home moping in the loneliness.......she's going to miss them!

It is so bitter sweet! I like to have them home with me too, but it is nice to send them somewhere fun, where TV isn't an option!
Your kids look ready to go. They are so cute.

Poor Maggie! :)

It is a bittersweet time, for sure! I think it's especially hard when it's still so summery weatherwise. I'm sure they'll have a super year.

My gosh, how Maggie has changed in the last month! So much more hair, which makes her look way older. (Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear, Kendi.)
Love you all.

Oh don't you just love the first day of school - All the excitement and all the tears.
You little one looks so sad in that last picture. It will be good one on one time for you and her though :-D

It was fun to be there when they left for school. I'm sure they are going to do very well. Having Ms. Christiansen will make it easier for Bess as she knows what to expect. Thanks for putting us up for a couple of nights.

That picture of Maggie is classic. Her expression is exactly as you described... lonely and moping! Poor thing! But she is adorable. It will be wierd when Ellie goes to school, right now it seems like a million years away!
