Daddy's Girl

It usually only takes our kids about 2 years to figure out that their dad IS the best. After that, all I am good for is something to eat and some clean laundry. He is pretty cool and fun to boot!

Bess has always been a early riser, just like her dad. (Carter and I need to be dragged out of bed) Hence they get to enjoy having breakfast together, just the two of them, Mon.-Fri.
Most mornings I don't hear much conversation, just cereal chomping. Shortly after you'll hear the front door shut as Glen heads off for work. Next you'll hear the pitter patter of Bess's feet as she runs for the window to wave and blow her daddy a kiss goodbye. It honestly happens every morning, those 5 work days a week. If she happens to miss him, she's in tears. Daddy eats up every minute of it!

Bess had her Kindergarten program and talent show last week at school. She has known for over a month that she needed to come up with a talent. It could be anything, a joke, draw a picture, sing a song, dance, etc. Bess knew from the very beginning that she wanted to play the piano. Great! let's teach her a song. Nope, she wanted to write her own song. Only thing is the song was different each time she played it and you never quite knew how long she was going to be playing it.
I really tried to convince her to to do something different but she wanted nothing to do with it.
Her dad helped her come up with a name for her song, "Crystal Palace." She did great and wasn't scared at all to show her "talent."
Only 3 1/2 days left of kindergarten. Wow this year really flew by.

Awesome, Bess! I hope to get to hear "The Crystal Palace" one of these days. I'm sure it's wonderful. Wonderful photos of the big day, Kendi. That first one, with those wonderful brown eyes, if just beautiful. Love those pink boots, too. I want to get a pair just like them. :)
It's neat that Bess has that morning time with her Dad. Days get busy, and that's probably the best time of day for the two of them to relate.

Love you all much.

that is so funny because Sean and Rylee have that EXACT same relationship. She has to wave and if she doesn't.. oh boy! She gets up early to see him, etc. That is awesome! I think it is adorable.

I'm so bummed that I missed the Crystal Palace song, but I guess I've heard it in one form or another many times as Bess sits down and pretends she's a concert pianist, playing "angry" songs or "happy bird chirping" songs. It would be great to see all the puzzled parent faces as Bess adlibs her song on the spot. Bess is great! Beautiful inside and out.

It was fun watching and listening to Bess play her song while we were there visiting. That's how I started playing piano. It always seems like lessons decrease our creativity but sometime we have to pick up the fundamentals then get creative again. Bess has all the makings to be a performer in dance and piano. Let's keep encouraging that and her other creative interests. She is one lovable and lovely girl!
