Glen prepared him by giving him a blessing the night before. I truly think it helped, especially when it was time for getting out of bed.
As we drove to school this morning we practiced saying his teachers name, Miss. Christensen. It's a hard one for him but I am pretty positive he'll have it down in no time.
When I picked him up afterwards I asked him how his first day went. His response, "it's too long."

Good job Carter! We hope you love 1st Grade!

Way to go Carter!!
First grade already!!
I concur, it is a long day, Lyssa goes to kindergarten all day and she is one tired little gal when she gets home!!
he is one cute boy!
Tell him he's lucky, if you lived here he would have gone to school all day LAST year! That's right, all-day kindergarten.
Lets see, 1st grade memories:
-Eating glue to impress Jessi Fears. It worked and we "went out" for about 2 hours until I realized I had made a huge mistake.
-telling 3 different girls that I liked them at the same time and them being ok with it
-wearing the same pair of corduroy pants all year long
-playing soccer at recess and having someone kick the ball into my jewels for the first time.
-getting up in front of both classes and do the "Hi my name is Joe and I work in a chocolate factory..." routine.
-hitting Matt Nappolilly in the face with a lunch box
Crap...I was a messed up kid...good luck Carter, you'll be fine.
Carter is his own little man and goes to the beat of his own drum. Here's the conversation last night:
Me: So did you make any new friends today?
Carter: Nope.
Me: Aren't you excited to make new friends this year?
Carter: Not really.
Me: Who'd you sit next to at lunch?
Carter: Some kid - he was sitting at a tablet without a lot of other kids.
I like the fact that Carter is a leader, not a follower. He's not anti-social - he's just not hungry for attention or acceptance. I hope that's something that sticks.
Glen
I like that too. He's not afraid to do this own thing - what he likes, and people can come along for the ride or not! Hope he has a great first grade year! I enjoyed watching Carter dance at the reunion!
Love,
Melecia
Carter, we're very proud of you, and I'm sure the days will get better and better as you get to know the kids and the teacher better. The first few days is always tough, especially after a long, fun summer, but I have no doubt you'll be a top student and example, just like you were lastyear. You're SUPER, and we love you.
I just finished a first grade post yesterday! I agree with Carter; it is too long.
That is such a cute response!
