This past weekend won't go down in the records as a good weekend for us.
It started out on Friday with a frantic call from my sister. As she pulled into her garage, from picking her daughter up from school, she noticed her dog of 10 years didn't get up to greet them. She found Annabel lying unable to get up, while having a hard time breathing.
My sister's husband was out of town until that evening and on top of it she had an extra neighbor kid she was watching. To make a long story short she got help getting the dog to the vet to find out she didn't make it.
We've all been terribly sad as Annabel truly was not like most dogs. She was so great with the kids, letting them lay all over her. She was always so happy to have some one come to the door and always greeted them with a lick (not Bess's favorite). She was quick to calm down but just wanted you to know she was happy to have you in her home. My sister is having a hard time, as they got Annabel 6 months after they were married. She was the start of their family.
We'll miss her lots.
Saturday was a rainy yucky day so Glen decided it would be perfect for ripping our shower out in our downstairs bathroom. He plans on making the old shower into a linen closet and knocking the wall out into our laundry room to make a big walk-in shower.
I often wonder what drives him to take on these tasks, I say hire it out! I think his mind might have changed after this last Saturday also.
He had just got off the phone after talking to his mom when about 5 minutes later I hear him yelp. I thought "oh that doesn't sound good." However, I am quite use to some not so appropriate words to come flying while working on house projects.
Next thing I heard was Carter coming to tell me I needed to come help Daddy.
Glen sliced his arm open pretty deep on the wire from the tiling. About 4 hours and 4 stitches later he was back to new.
I now worry about how long the mess unfinished project will sit?
Sunday, Bess decided the same bathroom needed a little pick me up with some fingernail polish. The picture doesn't do it justice as she had her footprints of fingernail polish all over the carpet, on the door, and covering her. I think she was quite pleased with herself!
Here's hoping for a happier, more productive weekend!

OHHHH Nightmare weekend - especially the slicing and stitching - icky!!
Hope your week is much better:)
AWESOME! I love the fingernail polish. Welome to having girls, right!? Good luck with the shower!
Ouch! So sorry about the injury, Glen. That's sad. I hope you're feeling okay now, and that next Saturday goes better.
I guess we've all had adventures with the nail polish, or something similar. Of course, it always has to be something that's more or less permanent - -never the washable markers, or something easy. It's a pretty color, anyway. The girl has good taste!
Love you all.
Mom
Shoot! You weren't kiddding. She got that everywhere! Tell Glen sorry for the stiches.
Yikes! That was a rough weekend! Tell your sister we are sorry they lost their dog--that's a tough thing. Sorry about Glen's arm too and the polish. Again....Yikes!
Love you,
Susan
Sorry about the loss of your sister's beloved Annabel. We know about crisis with pets and the losses are really hard on kids. I hope Glen will continue to be innovative with his projects, but, like his dad, he can sometimes bite off more than he can chew. I find a lot of relief having a reputable handy man come and do projects that are beyond me. Aren't little kids and their messes fun? Yuck. I just cleaned up some of Molly's throw-up, yuck, yuck.
Love you,
Mike/Dad
I thought that last picture was Glen's blood all over. Sorry about the cut. That sucks.
Finger nail polish is so hard to get out of things. I am so sorry!! You deserve a relaxing, no worry weekend this time around. Good luck with everything!
Annabelle was a good pup. It's a sad day indeed. I also thought that was glens blood for a second. Hope your week goes better!
I didn't think the weekend was all that bad... except for Annabel dying. She was a good dog. Having stiches is pretty cool and the Bess thing made me laugh because she was SO apologetic about the whole thing. It was impossible for me to be mad at her for more than 2 seconds.
As for the shower, I think I'll borrow Ron's mini jackhammer to take out the tile and hire out pretty much everything else except the framing. It took me about 2 hours with a hammer and chissel to complete what I did before getting hurt. Getting that old tile out is NO JOKE and will require power tools!
Glen
Holy Crap!
I remember getting a letter on my mission explaining that mom got in a wreck in the 4runner and totaled it, then she was in a wheelchair for a couple months, and then my dog of 10 years died...needless to say I really started working even harder about that time on my mission.
Not a good weekend kid! I'm sorry about the puppy and Glen's arm. That looks like an ambitious project Glen, but definately not worth slicing through an artery! Yikes! Cecily just cut her hair a few minutes in a horrible mullett -she got each side!
Hope it goes better!
Love,
Melecia
