We had a great 4Th this year. We spent our time in Ashton with Glen's family and my little sister. It was great fun to have such wonderful company. Spending time in Ashton is very renewing for me. I think I had a nap almost every afternoon, followed by eating way too much junk food make for a true vacation. The junk food part isn't totally true, however I ate way too much as Glen's mom is a great cook and some how I just couldn't resist. I brought my running shoes totally intending on running but somehow those naps just won me over.
Growing up in a small town has made me come to appreciate small town parades. Carter and Bess were lucky enough to ride on a float with some neighbor friends of Grandmas. Carter wasn't so sure about wearing the wig but once he wasn't the only one he joined right in. The float drove down one end of main street and then turned around to come back from where they started from. It was funny to see the kids at the beginning versus the way back. Bess was all waves as they took off but by the time that float came back she was giving me the evil eye. I think she was hot and tired and plus her brother had stole some of her candy to throw since he ran out of his.
(was it just us or is this clown scary looking?)
Rae, Grandma, Megan, Glen and I collected candy, choc. milk, water, and popsicles for them at the end.
Grandma has a perfect hill for a slip n' slide. And the kids couldn't be luckier to have the dad they have. He's great about playing with them. Something I think they'll always remember.
Carter couldn't get enough of the fireworks, while Bess wasn't quite sure. She was a good sport though and gave them a try.
I think Joel, Erin, and Erin's parents were on "crack" that night!
Blythe lives in such beautiful country. I wish I would have taken a picture of the view from their porch. We took a little trip to feed the fish and to Mesa Falls. The kids were totally engrossed in feeding the fish, while us adults couldn't get over the beauty of the falls. It really looks like something out of a movie.
We really had a wonderful time. We're lucky to have a Grandma that lives in Ashton so we can visit such beautiful country often.

Those pictures are so awesome! It sounds like such a fun time with Grandma and everyone else.
I love the picture of the temple at the end. What a gorgeous place.
I'm glad that you had such a great time.
Thanks, Kendi. An awesome reminder of how wonderful it was to have you here for a few days. We're blessed to have this place and it's the BEST to share it. Seems like the time always goes way too quickly. The picture of "cracked" Erin and parents is great, too.
Love the new look on your blog. You're always doing creative things with it.
Love you all,
Mom/Gram
That is such a beautiful part of Idaho. Jenny has told me about the great house there - you guys are lucky ducks to have Grandma living in Ashton.
Love the hill for the slip n slide that is great! Probably fun in the winter too.
Looks like you had a very fun 4th weekend. Glad you could enjoy naps and junk food. That is the key to a great vacation!! Your hair is really cute--I think those are the first pictures I've seen since you cut it.
That's really cool that the kids got to ride on the float.
Love,
Susan
