Without Power

Yesterday we had quite the day. Around 10 am a really high wind came through our area and then about 10 minutes later a down pour of rain followed. It was really quite scary to watch. I thought we were in some sort of tornado.
About 10 minutes later we lost power. I didn't really think that much about it until the bishop called for Glen and a neighbor came knocking at our door. She said that she had been assigned from the to go door to door in our neighborhood to find out if anyone had flooding or any trees had fallen. Glen then called and said the bishop asked if he could get a group of guys together to go and start helping people. I did think the storm was quite scary and noticed some tree branches down in our front yard but didn’t realize it was quite that bad.
Glen came home from work early and started helping people cut down trees and such. I guess some trees fell on homes, were all over the road, and the high winds knocked out a transformer.
It was a very hard day with no power and little kids. They don’t quite understand it. We had to go to the store and buy ice to put our food in. You don’t realize how much you actually rely on power until it’s gone. We started using flashlights and candles around 8:30. Just when we were crawling in bed at 10 pm, the power came back on. I was so excited. Mostly because I was kind of getting scared of how dark it was.

Yesterday while there wasn’t much to do without power, I decided to clean the basement. (Remember the rule I decided to make about making Carter clean up after himself, well that didn’t ever last). I was moving some of the kids toys and a huge spider came crawling out from underneath one. I trapped it in a clear bin because I knew that our Spider Man (the guy that sprays for our spiders) was coming today. When he got here this morning we asked him what it was, maybe we shouldn’t have. He says it is a HOBO spider. I knew they were dangerous but not that scary. Now, with the way I am, we will just live in fear.

Anyway that is the update at the Moore house. Hope you are all having a good week. We are enjoying the cool weather!

How scary! We didn't have it that bad up here so I didn't even think that other people did.

I'm glad that your power came back on though.

And for the spiders... YIKES! Especially one that is dangerous.
Love that they can spray those badgers.

That spider is disgusting! I hate them and am totally freaked out by them. We have problems with black widows and some other spider that is a cross between spider and scorpion out here. EEEWWWW!!!

Glad the storm didn't affect your fam too much. Power outages can be kinda fun. :)
