That one Summer we Went to Montana

Wow summer literally flew by for us, I still hunger for the non-committal days.  So today I blog instead of dealing with my heart racing from all the papers the kids bring home from school and activities they need to be to.  I'll feast off of blogging about our wonderful time to Montana (aka Carter's heaven on earth) instead.

We started our trip out very early in the morning so that the kids would sleep and we could get some good driving time in.  The one BIG HUGE thing that save us on this trip is my sister Megan and her husband Kurtis.  They were flying up so they offered to act as Maggie's parents on their flight.  It was like a early Christmas for us all, as Maggie is a nightmare just to drive to five minutes in the car with.  A big HUGE thank you to them!
We drove straight to my aunt's cabin on Flathead Lake (my personal heaven on earth).  We spent 3 days there on the lake relaxing, boating, and taking in some clean fresh air.

That's some cold water!

Maggie's first time "fishing" and being at the lake.

Success for Glen.  All 3 of his kids enjoy fishing!

Traditional baby bath in the cabin sink.

One of the biggest reasons we wanted to get to Montana this summer was to visit my grandma and grandfather that still live close by.  My Grandma spent the time with us at the lake and it's time we will always treasure with her.  Seeing your grandparents getting older is hard!

My grandpa is now 92 and still lives on his own across the border in Canada.  My dad was kind enough to spend one day driving over to get him and take him back just for us to get to see him.  Sure do love this guy!

One evening was spent doing family pictures in this gorgeous field.

It's always a great time "at home." Even though I haven't lived there for almost 15 years now a piece of me will always long to be back.  Carter would pack his bags and move there tomorrow if we would let him.  He cries and cries when it's time to leave.  Who knows, maybe one day we'll find him living on a big ranch up in the middle of nowhere Montana loving life! & we can hope that he'll invite me to visit!

What a beautiful place! I can see why you call it "heaven on earth" because you have such a beautiful family and close attachments. That's what makes it heaven. Being able to drive there without crying baby made it nicer. Nice memories, nice time. I love the pictures in the yellow flowers and of the sweet old grandparents.

What a great place for a vacation! I just wish it were closer and we'd go up all the time. Honestly one of the most beautiful places in the country.

I love the pictures with Grandpa Leishman and Grandma Mary. They're wonderful people and you really have to enjoy every moment with them. Garth totally lit up with Maggie. Great memories.

Sounds like Carter and I need to do more camping.

Montana will always be home to my kids, I hope, we love sharing our beautiful Montana with your families and miss it when everyone goes back to their normal lives. Carter will always be welcomed to stay with gramma and grampa in Montana, he is a true outdoorsman. Again we look forward to next summer and it can't get here fast enough!!!!

I LOVE those family pictures! You are all so beautifull, and your kids couldn't be any cuter! What a wonderful family you have! I love the pictues with Grandpa...makes me sad that I live so far away! It's good to see pictures of Grandma Mary too. Seeing her brings back a lot of fun memories. How come I never met that Aunt that has a house right on the Flathead Lake......Does she want to adopt me into her side of the family? LOL....Miss you guys!
