We are Very Grateful!

Last night before going to bed Glen and I watched this documentary on these children that were born with this awful disease. Their skin grew the same amount overnight that the average person does in 2 weeks. It was so sad how they were in pain from taking baths and scrubbing so many times a day. There were 2 different cases of it in 2 different families in Britain.
It made me realize how truly blessed we are to have good health. I complain about such silly things compared to some peoples lives. I really truly am grateful!
Thinking of being grateful I was just thinking of my good friend Jami that just turned 30 this month. She found out a year ago this month after she had her 3rd baby that she has a tumor on her spine. Last summer they went in to try to do a biopsy on it and afterwards the doctors only gave her 2 weeks to live. I was so saddened by it. Her she was just 29 and going to leave 2 little girls and her new baby boy without a mother. She was promised though through a blessing by Elder Nelson that she would fully recover and would be able to mother her children again. It has truly been amazing to watch her. She is now getting feeling back from her chest up and is able to sleep at night with out her respirator. She is living with her parents where she can be constantly watched and her mother and father in law have moved back here from St. George to raise her children until she is better. It sure has been a miracle to watch her. I guess it does prove that there are modern day miracles. I am including a picture in the blog of her 2 girls and Carter from last year when we went to Thanksgiving Point. I am very grateful for her example.
I was able to go to lunch today with two of my good single friends. It was fun to see Jeff. I haven't seen him in forever. He has a great way of making me laugh. It was also nice to see Debbie but I do get to see her a little more regularly. Anyone know of any cute, available, older than 28 young men? She's available and quite the catch. <
I think we are going to Logan this weekend to spend some time with Paul and Joni. We just realized that it isn't going to be too long before they are far away and we can't just pop over to see them for a weekend. My little sister is also on her very short spring break from BYU-Idaho so she is going to meet us up there. We always have some good times with all of them so we will have lots of pictures to show you when we get back.
Last night we had to do the gengin violet (purple stuff) medicine in Bess's mouth in hopes to rid her from thrush. She hates it so bad. It makes her puke and it stains everything! My nail beds are still purple from it. It really does work though. I have also included that picture.
I am posting this late Thursday evening so this should make up for todays post and Fridays.
Have a good weekend!

Countdown to Disneyland!

We got our stuff in the mail today for our trip. I think I am more excited then Carter. I am just ready to get away from the rat race and cold weather.
Funny thing about the the trip, one of my really good friends and old roommates (Lora) was planning a trip for her family and they were planning on going the beginning of March but it didn't work out. She called me about 3 weeks ago and said she finally just booked it for April. As we continued talking we realized that we were going to be there the same time. We get there a day before them but we just realized today that we are on the same flight back as them. Kind of crazy. I don't quite know how well our schedules will turn out because they have 2 girls that are crazy about princesses and going to a princess dinner thing while on the other hand we will be seeing Shamu for breakfast. But I am sure we will find some time to see each other. At least on the plane ride back. We might be ready to switch kids by then.
We are trying to decide if we should sign Carter up for T-Ball or soccer this spring. We aren't quite sure which one he will like better. None the less I am sure it will be a good time and we will probably have some good laughs.
I took Bess to the doctor this morning. She has just been so grouchy that I figured something had to be the matter. Right after I made the appointment I just had this feeling that there wasn't anything wrong. So of course there isn't anything wrong. She still has her thrush that she has had FOREVER and teeth still coming up but that is it. But the doctor assured me that it is okay to keep giving her Tylenol and Advil every four hours, which does help with her grouchiness.
My nice neighbor down the street watched Carter while I went. Her 14 year old has a pet lizard of some sort and Carter got to feed it crickets and worms which he loved. He now says that is his pet of choice! Scary thing is dad isn't allergic to those!
Wednesdays are busy for me. Between story time, running errands and young womens at night I am tired. Tonight for young womens we are going ice skating. Not one of my favorite things.
I thought I would leave you today with some of my spring/Easter decorations and cute name sign that I made for Bess's room. We just repainted Carter's room this cute red. It goes really nice with his black bedroom furniture. I would take a picture but I don't have things hanging up yet or anything so I will have to post that later.

Happy Hump Day.

She's Got Lungs.......and She Knows How to Use Them!!!!

Bess has recently figured out how to use her voice. Cute but yet, loud! When she gets frustrated with something she sticks her arms straight out, hands clenched and yells at the top of her lungs. It's not easy to keep her quite at church either. Glen and I take turns putting her binky back in her mouth.
We didn't have the best night of sleep at our house last night. I don't know if Bess is getting more teeth or what but it was bad. But never the less she still seems to rise and shine at 6 this morning. I ignored her until Glen got her. But I missed the gym. So I laid her down for her morning nap at 9 and came down to do the treadmill at exactly 9:15. Carter was down here playing games on the computer and I had the monitor right there so I could listen periodically. Well normally she takes about a 2 hour nap so I didn't think much of her waking. About 15 minutes into it I listened to the monitor and sure enough I could hear her. I went up and got her and brought her down here to play with toys because I was bound and determined to get it done. I was able to get a 3 mile jog in so I can't be too mad at her.
I want a new camera so bad. My digital that I have takes forever to take the picture. By the time it finally takes the picture the kids aren't even smiling. Glen told me I was no longer allowed to take their pictures at Christmas time because I was being too mean. I am so mad Bess will grow up looking at the pictures thinking she never smiled. Which is very untrue!
I asked a friend of mine that takes pictures for a hobby about the best kind of camera for what I want to do and she told me. None the less it's close to $1100. One day! My sister and I have even thought of getting a nice camera and taking some photography classes and maybe taking pictures of kids and babies for some side money. I am also tired of taking my kids to the same ol places like Target, Kiddie Kandids, Sears type places. I am ready to get some good candid black and white shots. They are so much cuter.
It would be nice to have a good camera before we go to Disneyland. I refuse to take pictures there with the digital. By the time I take the picture Mickey and the gang will have moved on to another child and we won't have any of our kids with them but other children we have no idea who they are.
I am currently over hearing a conversation Carter is having with Bess. Quite hilarious. They are in the cute TP/tent that Grandberger made for them and Carter is talking Spanish to her. I don't quite know if the Spanish words he is using are real Spanish words or made up but sounds good to me. Glen must be teaching him some Spanish on the side?

Hope everyone has a good day. It's yucky and rainy here.
P.S. Carter was mad yesterday that I didn't include a picture of him on "his horse Sage" so here it is!

Good Monday Morning!

Well my children's sleep schedules are off from one another and I am not handling it very well. I was so use to Carter's schedule of going to bed around 9:30 and sleeping in till almost 9 every morning that I don't know how to handle Bess's schedule. I have to fight to keep her awake till 7:30 and then she wants to be up by 6:30 or earlier. It's killing me. That is my time to go to the gym in the morning and she is ruining it! Glen has been really good about gettting up with her so I can still go. I keep threatening to put black blinds in our room so that she doesn't think it is morning yet and maybe will sleep longer. Any better ideas?
She is quite happy when she wakes up and loves to see us all in the morning so I can't be too grouchy at her.
I think we will try to get out today since it's really only supposed to be the nicest day we have all week. Not quite sure what we will do but I am sure something will come up.
Carter is really excited about preschool next year and he finally is off the waiting list of one of the preschools and actually in. So I am a little less stressed. No one told me how hard it is to get your child into preschool around here. Seriously people put their kids on waiting lists from the hospital. NUTS!!!! I also can't believe how must more expensive it is in this area compared to other areas in the valley.
Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Beautiful Day

Today the temperature has been in the high 60's. It is beautiful. Carter has been outside since 9:30 this morning. He is loving every minute of it and I am loving it because I know he is going to crash early tonight.
Glen flew out of town yesterday for the day for work. His plane left for California at 9 am and he returned home last night at 8. Carter was so sure that he was going to Disneyland without us.
Glen is helping a part member family move in the ward today. Our ward is really excited because our goal this year is to bring people into the waters of bapitism and so far we have been so blessed by bringing one whole family and another family is getting back into coming to church and are baptizing their children that are older and never been baptised. So we are excited about his new family because the father has said he will give our ward 10 weeks. No pressure, huh?
I don't know what I am going to do with my little Bess. She has decided that she is too crazy about me that she isn't so sure of others. She likes her dad but from a distance. As soon as he takes her she isn't sure about it. I guess I am going to have to leave her more often with him........dang! She thinks her older brother is the best thing. She has to know what he is doing at all times and of course everything he has she wants. I didn't know that brothers and sisters already argued at this age.
All of a sudden Carter has decided that it is time to get a pet. Mom and Dad of course aren't so sure but he is bound and determined to get something. We did try fish for about 2 weeks until they all died but now he has moved on to wanting something that is actually fun to play with. Glen and I can't agree on an animal so for now we are just going to have to listen to Carter whine about wanting a pet. He and his cousin Parker were talking and she told him that Grandma got a new kitty at her house and he wanted to know why. So I told him because she wanted both of them to have a kitty when they went to her house. Well he hasn't forgot about that kitty and he thinks it is suppose to be at his house. Everyday he reminds me about it. Mom said she would send it but Glen says NO!
I need to figure out how to post pictures so you all can see how big the kids are and our home improvements. I love when the seasons change so I can get out my new decorations and some of my favorite are my spring things. I'll have Glen teach me how to get them up.
Love you all!

My Very First Online Journal

Okay, so it didn't take me long to decide that creating a blog is a good thing. I have a really hard time keeping scrap books for my kids or even journaling so I thought this would be a really good way to make me keep on top of things (hopefully). With not having much family close I think it is a great way of keeping others informed. Thanks for the idea Jen and I hope you don't mind that I am copying you.
I thought this would take a lot of time to create, but so far I think I am impressed. I don't know all the ins and outs yet but I will have to figure them out when I have more time.
Hope everyone enjoys just seeing what goes on with us on a daily basis.
Love you all.
